What is your cancellation policy?

Attendance and participation in therapy along with complete compliance with any associated home programs, are essential for therapeutic success.

While we understand that illnesses and emergencies occur, we respectfully request that you avoid frequent cancellations or “no shows”.  Please adhere to our policy regarding providing our office with advance notification for any cancellations resulting from a conflicting appointment, vacation, obligations for work or family, or any other event.

All cancellations must be submitted 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

If you fail to provide notification and your therapist shows up for the appointment you will be charged a no-show fee (see cancellation policy form).

We will address the unforeseen circumstances where you were unable to provide adequate notification on a case by case basis.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We are an out of network provider for insurance and do not bill insurance directly. We can however, provide you with the documentation you would need to submit billing for out of network benefits in the form of a superbill. We can also provide you with information on how to help you find out if you have these benefits, and how to work with your insurance company on getting them.

Please note that not all of the services that we provide are eligible for reimbursement by insurance. Consulting and training services are typically not reimbursable by insurance.

Can we use our HSA (health savings account) or FSA (flexible spending account) to pay for services?

The majority of our services can be paid for using either your HSA or FSA account. Any service that could potentially receive insurance coverage would be eligible.

What are your rates?

How long are sessions?

A speech therapy session for each child is 30 minutes.  Each child is seen one to two times per week depending on the severity of the disorder, and/or what type of intervention program is recommended. More intensive schedules are occasionally implemented as needed. If you are receiving a formal evaluation or assessment, however, that particular session may take 2-3 hours, depending on the extent of the testing.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

This is something many parents ask during their child’s initial evaluation. Of course, there is no single answer to this question.   However, it is a reasonable question to ask, as therapy costs money and time, and requires careful scheduling and consistent attendance. So, how much time should you plan on your child being in therapy? Here are some factors a speech-language pathologist considers:

  • The nature of the speech/language challenge (articulation vs developmental disorder, etc)
  • The severity of the speech/language problem
  • The number of goals the child is working to achieve
  • Any behavior or learning challenges

These factors may affect the child’s ability to respond to the therapist and activities and carryover skills to new environments.

The amount of time spent on home programming between sessions is also a key factor. A child may see his/her therapist one to two times a week for 30 minutes at a time. This is a very small percentage of a child’s waking hours! Working on home assignments daily will increase your child’s exposure to the concepts he/she is learning in speech therapy.  Thus, helping your child make progress quicker!

Since the effect of all these factors can’t be predicted through one initial evaluation, offering a fixed amount of time for therapy to work isn’t possible. However, I tell most parents that we will monitor the child’s progress over a period of 3 to 6 months and keep an open dialogue about the need for continued therapy.
